Biographical Information[edit]

Tommy Buckman has been on the Costa Rican national team.

He was 7 for 24 with a double, triple and two walks as a freshman at Maritime College. Transferring to Washington, he was 3 for 17 with a double and two walks as a sophomore then hit .330/.385/.427 in 2019. He was 0 for 3 with a walk when the 2020 season was cancelled due to COVID-19; given an extra year of eligibility, he was 6 for 26 with 5 walks and a homer in 2021. He then was a graduate student at St. Peter's, batting .287/.411/.389 in 2022. With Costa Rica in the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games Central American Qualifier, he was 1 for 16 with a HBP and two runs, handling six putouts. His hit came off Junior Téllez of champion Nicaragua. Costa Rica won Bronze. [1] He helped them take Silver in the 2025 Central American Games, homering in their opening win over Guatemala and had 4 hits as they beat El Salvador. Costa Rica's only prior Silver in baseball in a Central American Games had been in 1986. [2]
