Biographical Information[edit]
Tetsuya Kitagawa was drafted by the Yakult Swallows in the first round of the 1994 NPB draft, and he had a 9.00 ERA in 2 games in 1995. He then pitched 9 games with a 12.41 ERA in 1996, and he allowed 2 runs in 2 innings in 1997. Kitagawa was caught for tax evasion before the 1998 season, and he was suspended for 4 weeks. He ended up 4-4 with a 3.83 ERA in 1998, but he stayed in the minors for the entire 1999 season and he announced his retirement. While Yakult blew it with their first pick, the 1994 draft was still a good one for them as they got Shinya Miyamoto and Atsunori Inaba with their next two selections.
