Biographical Information[edit]
Tetsunosuke Fujiwara played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 12 years.
Fujiwara signed with the Nagoya club in 1942, and he went 2-for-17 in his first season. He hit .208/.315/.241 in 84 games in 1943 as Nagoya's starting catcher, and he had a .202/.303/.279 batting line in 32 games in 1944. Fujiwara then collected 5 triples with a .237/.331/.310 batting line in 1946, and he hit .248/.329/.310 in 1947. Fujiwara jumped to the Daiei Stars with general manager Masashi Akamine in 1948, and he had a .191/.262/.238 batting line in 108 games. When Akamine left the Stars in 1949, Fujiwara didn't go to the Tokyu Flyers with him but chose to join the Yomiuri Giants instead.
The Tokyo native recorded a .216/.304/.290 batting line in 110 appearances that season, and he hit .244/.332/.306 in 1950. He lost his spot when Yasuo Kusunoki joined the team in 1951, and he only played 49 games with a .204/.288/.258 batting line. Fujiwara then went to the Hiroshima Carp, and he batted .236/.332/.298 in 83 games in 1952. He slumped to .177/.275/.211 in 1953, and he went 5-for-14 in 1954 then he announced his retirement.
Overall, Fujiwara hit .220/.309/.278 with 534 hits and 7 homers in 12 seasons in NPB.
