Biographical Information

Terushichi Kataoka signed with the Tokyu Flyers in 1949, and he hit .234/.273/.309 in 60 games in his first season. He played 115 games with a .233/.271/.370 batting line in 1950, and he slumped to .174/.222/.250 in 1951. That was the lowest batting average for a qualified batter in the history of the Pacific League. Kataoka was 3-for-31 in 1952, and he announced his retirement.

Overall, Kataoka hit .206/.248/.308 with 163 hits and 15 homers in 4 seasons in NPB.
