Biographical Information

Tatsuya Shiokawa played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 5 years

Shiokawa won six Best Nine awards and a MVP in the Sendai Big-Six Universities Baseball League, and he represented Japan in the 2004 World University Baseball Championship. He was drafted by the Rakuten Golden Eagles in the 5th round the 2004 NPB draft, and he hit .216/.265/.247 in 69 games in his first season, splitting short with Yoshinori Okihara. Shiokawa struggled again in 2007 as he had a .189/.257/.211 batting line in 84 games, then he hit .163/.234/.233 in 82 games as a backup utility infielder in 2008. He was 3-for-18 in 2009, and he only got 5 more at-bats for the big club before he announced his retirement in 2011. He later became the fielding coach for the Golden Eagles in 2018. When Hajime Miki was fired in 2026, Shiokawa became Rakuten's interim manager for 10 days.

Overall, Shiokawa hit .199/.253/.231 with 70 hits in 5 seasons in NPB.
