Biographical Information[edit]

Takuya Kuwahara went 11-13 with 157 strikeouts in 165 innings in the Tohto University Base Ball League, and he was called the "Dr. K of Tohto". He was drafted by the Yomiuri Giants in the first round of the 2017 NPB draft after they lost the lotteries for the rights to Kotaro Kiyomiya and Munetaka Murakami. He went 1-2 with a 6.83 ERA in 2018, then he recorded a 4.74 ERA in 15 appearances in 2019. Kuwahara only pitched 5 games in 2020, and he stayed in the minors for the entire 2021 season. He collected a career-high 13 holds with a 5.16 ERA in 49 appearances in 2022, but he allowed 5 runs in 5 innings in 2023 and the Giants released him. He signed with the Softbank Hawks, and he announced his retirement after spending the 2024 season in the minors.
