Biographical Information[edit]

Takuya Hara played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 10 years.

Hara won five Best Nine awards and a MVP in his college career. He was drafted by the Seibu Lions in the 4th round of the 2006 NPB draft, and he stayed in the minors in his first two seasons; he only got 21 at-bats combined for the top team. Hara played 50 games with a .219/.282/.266 batting line as Seibu's starting third baseman in 2009 after Takeya Nakamura was injured in August, then he hit .225/.330/.314 in 2010. He replaced Yasuyuki Kataoka to become Seibu's starting second baseman in 2011, and he broke the team record with 51 sacrifice bunts in a season. His batting line was .241/.303/.289 that season, and he slumped to .168/.275/.204 in 2012. The Lions traded him to the Orix Buffaloes for Koji Yamasaki, and Hara bounced back with a .253/.320/.292 batting line in 2013. He played a career-high 120 games with a .248/.307/.348 batting line as Orix's main infield utility man in 2014, but his batting line fell to .170/.233/.230 in 2015. Hara hit .189/.286/.216 in 36 games in 2016, and he announced his retirement.

Overall, Hara hit .223/.297/.282 with 265 hits and 6 homers in 10 seasons in NPB.
