Biographical Information[edit]
Takeo Hitomi played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 7 years.
Hitomi was 101-for-364 with 3 homers in his college career, and he won a MVP in 1955. He signed with the Hankyu Braves in 1957, and he hit .215/.259/.322 in 94 games in his first season. Hitomi improved to .277/.313/.370 in 1958, and he had a .244/.278/.316 batting line in 1959. He played 114 games as Hankyu's starting third baseman in 1960, and his batting line was .270/.300/.383. Hitomi then recorded a .228/.313/.333 batting line in 1961, but he slumped to .179/.229/.256 in 1962 and Akira Ishii took his spot. He was 0-for-4 in 1963, and he announced his retirement.
Overall, Hitomi hit .242/.288/.339 with 419 hits and 22 homers in 7 seasons in NPB.
