Biographical Information[edit]

Takashi Umino has caught in Nippon Pro Baseball.

Umino represented Japan in the 2018 Haarlem Baseball Week. He was drafted by the Softbank Hawks in the 2nd round the 2019 NPB draft, and he went 0-for-4 in 2020. Since the Hawks already had star catcher Takuya Kai, Umino didn't get many chances with the big club. He was 1-for-4 in 2021, and he played 47 games with a .167/.167/.286 batting line in 2022. Umino only played 8 games in 2023, and he was named the main backup catcher for Kai in 2024. He hit .173/.225/.279 in 51 games, and he was 0-for-1 in the 2024 Nippon Series. The Hawks lost to the Yokohama BayStars in 6 games. When Kai signed with the Yomiuri Giants in 2025, Umino became the starting catcher for the Hawks in 2025.
