Biographical Information[edit]

Takashi Manei played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 13 years.

Manei was drafted by the Yokohama BayStars in the 6th round of the 1993 NPB draft, and he was 7-for-26 in his first season. He went 7-for-43 in 1995, and he only got 32 at-bats combined in the next two seasons. Manei played 47 games with a .267/.313/.324 batting line in 1998, and it was the only season that he had more than 100 at-bats. He was often used as a defensive replacement (at 2B, 3B and SS), and he never had more than 60 at-bats a season before he announced his retirement in 2006. Manei later became Yokohama's minor league fielding coach from 2007 to 2009 and from 2013 to 2015, and he was the fielding coach for their top team from 2016 to 2017. He managed their minors team from 2018 to 2019, and he was named their minor league fielding coach in 2020. Manei also scouted for the BayStars, signing Daichi Akahori, Masayuki Kuwahara, Toshiro Miyazaki and Tateki Abe.

Overall, Manei hit .236/.289/.310 with 115 hits and 5 homers in 13 seasons in NPB.
