Biographical Information[edit]

Takashi Hamamura played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 6 years.

Hamamura was drafted by the Nishitetsu Lions in the first round of the 1965 NPB draft, and he only got 9 at-bats in 1966. He hit .218/.267/.342 in 1967, and he played 114 games with a .237/.301/.308 batting line in 1968, serving as their most-used shortstop. Hamamura struggled again in 1969 as his batting line was .213/.278/.325, then he recorded a .232/.270/.195 batting line in 89 games in 1970. The Lions traded him with Isao Hirono to the Yomiuri Giants for Akira Takahashi, Akira Tanaka and Kunizo Umeda, but he hit .133/.188/.156 in 1970. Hamamura never reached the big club again before he retired in 1972, and he returned to the Lions in 1976 after working in Fukuoka for 3 years. However, Hamamura still couldn't return to the top team, and he announced his retirement again in 1978. He later coached the Lotte Orions from 1988 to 1992.

Overall, Hamamura hit .218/.274/.306 with 203 hits and 13 homers in 6 seasons in NPB.
