Biographical Information[edit]
Takao Watanabe was drafted by the Seibu Lions in the 7th round of the 1991 NPB draft, but he only played 4 games combined for the top team before the Lions released him in 2000; he didn't even get a single at-bat. Watanabe then played for the Sunward Securities team in the Industrial League, and the Nippon Ham Fighters signed him in 2003. He was the first player who left the league, played for more than a year in amateur baseball and returned to NPB. However, Watanabe didn't reach the big club and he announced his retirement in 2004.
