Biographical Information

Outfielder Takao Ogi signed with the Nishitetsu Lions in 1957, and he was 3-for-13 in his first season. He hit .365/.400/.519 in 56 plate appearances over games in 1958, and he appeared in 2 games in the 1958 Nippon Series as a pinch-runner; the Lions beat the Yomiuri Giants in 7 games. Ogi slumped to .159/.288/.205 in 1959, and he recorded a .208/.250/.208 batting line in 76 plate appearances over 63 games in 1960. He was 6-for-34 in 33 games in 1961, and he announced his retirement.
