Biographical Information[edit]

Takamitsu Io played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 5 years.

Io was drafted by the Hiroshima Carp in the 2nd round of the 1998 NPB draft, and he only played 4 games combined for the big club in his first seven seasons. He recorded a .268/.331/.333 batting line in 74 games in 2006, and he hit .283/.356/.340 in 36 games in 2007. Io only got 2 at-bats for the top team combined in the next three seasons, and he played 42 games with a .256/.322/.366 batting line in 2011. Io crushed his first career homer against Yudai Kawai, and he used 13 seasons to get a homer, setting the CL record. Io didn't reach the big club in 2012, and he announced his retirement.

Overall, Io hit .266/.331/.342 with 74 hits in 5 seasons in NPB.
