Biographical Information[edit]
Taka Miura played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 9 years.
Miura was 13-19 with a 2.47 ERA in his college career, and he won the MVP in 2000 fall season. He drafted by the Yomiuri Giants in the 3rd round of the 2000 NPB draft, and he had a 3.41 ERA in 49 appearances in his first season. However, he suffered from Yips after he plunked Koichi Ogata on his head, and he only pitched 3 games in 2002. Miura was then turned into an outfielder, and he got 14 at-bats combined in the next two seasons. He was 5-for-23 in 2005, and he went 6-for-28 in 2006. Miura only played 4 games in 2007, and the Giants released him. The Seibu Lions picked him up, and Miura was 2-for-7 in 2008. He had a 5-for-27 record in 2009, and he announced his retirement. He was an assistant coach for Urawa Gakuin High School before he passed away in 2023 due to colorectal cancer.
