Biographical Information[edit]
Taiga Ueda has pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball.
Ueda represented Japan in the 2022 Haarlem Baseball Week. He saved Minato Aoyama's opening 1-0 win over Curaçao and beat the USA's Cade Kuehler. He finished with three shutout innings and tied seven others for the most appearances (3). He completed a no-hitter against Osaka Gakuin University on September 16, 2023. He was drafted by the Seibu Lions in the second round of the 2023 NPB draft; the scout was Mitsutaka Goto. He debuted against the Yakult Swallows on June 5, 2024 and he got his first career strikeout against José Osuna. Ueda pitched 17 games with a 2.70 ERA in his rookie season.
Ueda's repertoire features a fastball that peaks at 95.7 mph, curveball, cutter, changeup, forkball and a slider.
