Biographical Information[edit]

Tadayuki Inoue played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 8 years.

Inoue signed with the Nishitetsu Lions in 1957, and he went 3-for-33 in his first season. He was 2-for-11 in 1958, and he hit .202/.246/.287 in 1959. Inoue played 100 games with a .174/.242/.229 batting line in 1960, and he recorded a .165/.204/.291 batting line in 1961. He crushed a career-high 8 homers with a .201/.254/.332 batting line in 1962, and he went 10-for-65 in 1963. Inoue appeared in 2 of 7 games in the 1963 Nippon Series as a backup infielder, and the Lions lost to the Yomiuri Giants. He had a 11-for-76 record in 1964, and he announced his retirement. Inoue later became an umpire for the Central League from 1965 to 1997, and he worked 3,265 games with 6 Nippon Series (1984, 1985, 1987, 1991, 1994 and 1996) and 6 All Star Games (1972, 1979, 1983, 1987, 1991 and 1996). He became the second person to appear in a Japan Series as both a player and umpire, following Osamu Kubota.

Overall, Inoue hit .180/.235/.271 with 170 hits and 18 homers in 8 seasons in NPB.
