Biographical Information[edit]

Tadashi Yazawa was drafted by the Hiroshima Carp in the 2nd round of the 1966 NPB draft, but he refused to sign. He signed with the Yomiuri Giants in 1967, but he spent his first six seasons primarily in the NPB Farm Leagues; he only got 25 at-bats combined for the big club. Yazawa played 45 games with a .212/.264/.354 batting line in 1974, and he hit .254/.308/.377 in 100 games in 1975. He recorded a .224/.274/.328 batting line in 1976, and he was 0-for-5 in the 1976 Nippon Series; the Giants lost to the Hankyu Braves in 7 games. He slumped to .169/.308/.292 in 1977, and he announced his retirement.

Overall, Yazawa hit .229/.296/.350 with 122 hits and 15 homers in 7 seasons in NPB.
