Biographical Information[edit]

Tadashi Furuta signed with the Taiyo Whales in 1965, and he was 2-for-12 in his first season. He played 28 games in 1966 as an infield utility man, and he only got 4 at-bats. Furuta then hit .225/.244/.250 in 49 games in 1967, and he was 5-for-27 in 1968. He missed most of the 1969 season, and he played a career-high 76 games with a .224/.296/.347 batting line as Taiyo's 5th-most-used outfielder; he only had 49 at-bats. Furuta was 1-for-15 in 43 games in 1971, and he recorded a .229/.250/.229 batting line in 58 games in 1972. He improved to .304/.385/.304 in 28 at-bats in 55 games in 1973, then he went 2-for-6 in 1974 and he announced his retirement.

Overall, Furuta hit 213/.262/.251 with 45 hits in 10 seasons in NPB. He had 211 at-bats in 368 games.
