Biographical Information

Susumu Nagai signed with the Hankyu Braves in 1958, and he pitched 4 innings in 1959. He was then turned into a position player, and he was 6-for-27 in 1961. He only got one at-bat in 1962, then he played 78 games with a .169/.240/.212 batting line in 1963, primarily backing up Roberto Barbon at 2B. Nagai hit .224/.250/.259 in 56 games in 1964, and he had a .222/.254/.333 batting line in 1965. He slumped to .132/.154/.158 in 1966, and he announced his retirement in 1967.

Overall, Nagai hit .190/.235/.243 with 58 hits in 7 seasons in NPB.
