South Dakota-Iowa Intercollegiate Conference
(Redirected from South Dakota Intercollegiate Conference)
The South Dakota-Iowa Intercollegiate Conference was formed as the South Dakota Intercollegiate Conference in 1917.
In the early-mid 1980s, USD-Springfield and Yankton closed, and Black Hills St., Dakota State, Huron, and Sioux Falls dropped baseball, causing the conference to stop sponsoring the sport around 1985. In the 1995-1996 school year Westmar and Dordt from Iowa and Mount Marty joined the conference and Sioux Falls brought baseball back, causing the sport to be sponsored again. The schools in Iowa also caused the name change to South Dakota-Iowa Intercollegiate Conference.
After the 1999-2000 school year, Dakota Wesleyan, Dordt, Mount Marty, and Sioux Falls left for the Great Plains Athletic Conference, while Black Hills State, Dakota State, Si-Tanka Huron, and (non-baseball) South Dakota Mines merged with the North Dakota College Athletic Conference to form the Dakota Athletic Conference.
