Biographical Information

Sota Tanoue has pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball. His uncle Hidenori Tanoue also played in NPB.

Tanoue was drafted by the Softbank Hawks in the 5th round of the 2020 NPB draft, the scout was Homare Inamine. He only pitched one inning in the NPB Farm Leagues in 2021, and he was 5-6 with a 3.47 ERA in 2022. Tanoue also had a 2.45 ERA in 7 1/3 innings for the big club, and he was 2-3 with a 5.56 ERA for the Gigantes de Carolina in the winter. Tanoue then had a 4-5 record with a 3.55 ERA in 2023, and his ERA was 6.75 in 4 starts in the winter. However, he suffered from Langerhans cell histiocytosis, and he missed the next two seasons.
