Shurty Tremus played for the Netherlands in the 2004 World Junior Championship, going 4 for 14 with a walk and fielding .882 at short. He outhit his middle infield mate, Dwayne Kemp, a future minor leaguer. Tremus hit .179/.252/.179 for ADO in the 2005 Hoofdklasse and fielded .888, worst of the league's starting shortstops.
In 2006, the switch-hitter improved to .218/.323/.261 and fielded .921, 4th among the six most-used shortstops. He was better yet in 2007 when the 19-year-old batted .263/.344/.328; his fielding fell to .868 at short but was .941 at second base.
With HCAW in 2008, Tremus fell to .218/.331/.256 while fielding .946 at second, 5th among the league's six most-used players there. Back with ADO in 2009, the youngster hit .240/.313/.333 and fielding .931, 5th among the eight starting shortstops.
