Biographical Information[edit]

Shumei Miyamoto was drafted by the Yokohama BayStars in the 7th round of the 2017 NPB draft; the scout was Mikinori Hachiuma. He hit .290/.327/.391 in 54 games in the NPB Farm Leagues in 2018, and he went 4-for-25 for the big club. Miyamoto then slumped to .232/.280/.393 with 7 homers in the minors in 2019, and he hit .240/.298/.380 in 2020; he only played 6 games combined in those two seasons. He collected 20 steals with a .247/.323/.324 batting line in the minors in 2021, and he was 2nd in steals in the Eastern League (8 behind Akito Takabe). He was 2-for-10 with the big club in '21, and he announced his retirement after hitting .139/.184/.333 in 29 games for the top team in 2022.
