Biographical Information[edit]
Shuhei Kojima played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 9 years.
Kojima was drafted by the Orix Buffaloes in the 7th round of the 2011 NPB draft, and he hit .218/.244/.218 in 29 games in his first season. He only got 23 at-bats combined in the next two seasons, and he went 8-for-47 in 2015. Kojima played 79 games as Orix's 4th outfielder in 2016, and he hit .246/.289/.307 with 10 doubles. He recorded a .213/.243/.305 in 2017, then he slumped to .120/.185/.140 in 2018. Kojima then played a career-high 103 games with a .220/.266/.305 batting line in 2019, but he struggled in 2020 as he was 3-for-20. He announced his retirement after the 2020 season, and he was the batting coach for the Buffaloes in 2021 and fielding coach from 2022 to 2024.
Overall, Kojima hit .209/.250/.274 with 175 hits and 6 homers in 9 seasons in NPB.
