Biographical Information[edit]
Shota Nakata was drafted by the Seibu Lions in the 6th round of the 2007 NPB draft, but he only only got 12 at-bats combined in his first 11 seasons. Nakata finally got his first career hit against Alan Busenitz in 2019, and he set the NPB record for most seasons used to get a hit as a batter. Nakata was 1-for-8 that season, and he announced his retirement. He was the minor league battery coach for Seibu from 2022 to 2024, and he coached their top team in 2025.
