Biographical Information

Shota Koseki was drafted by the Rakuten Golden Eagles in the 3rd round of the 2009 NPB draft, and he stayed in the NPB Farm Leagues in his first four seasons. In the 2013 Asia Series, he hit a game-winning three-run triple against Chris Motta of the Canberra Cavalry to help Rakuten advance to the semifinals. He played 53 games with a .152/.160/.202 batting line in 2014 (backing up Motohiro Shima at catcher), and he struggled again as his batting line was .162/.208/.221 in 2015. Koseki only got 7 more at-bats for the big club, and he announced his retirement in 2017.
