Biographical Information[edit]

Shohei Numata has played in Nippon Pro Baseball.

Numata was drafted by the Yomiuri Giants in the third round of the development phase in the 2018 NPB draft; the scout was Takashi Kashiwada. [1] He only pitched 3 games in the NPB Farm Leagues in 2019, and he went 5-1 with a 2.86 ERA with 6 saves in 2020 (tying for 4th in the Eastern League in saves). Numata also pitched 5 games for the big club, but he allowed 5 runs in 4 1/3 innings. He then had a 7.71 ERA in 2 games for the top team in 2021, and his ERA was 5.00 in 27 relief outings in the minors. Numata pitched 26 games with a 3.81 ERA with the minor league team in 2022, but he didn't reach the big club and he was released. The Yakult Swallows signed him, and he stayed in the minors for two years. He had a solid 1.39 ERA in 37 games in 2025, and he finally got a chance with the big club. However, Numata allowed 4 homers in an inning, and he was demoted again.
