Biographical Information[edit]
Shiro Muto signed with the Nankai Hawks in 1963, and he only got 4 at-bats combined in his first two seasons. He shared the starting third base spot with Nobushige Morishita n 1965, and he played 97 games with a .244/.314/.369 batting line. He was 0-for-2 in the 1965 Nippon Series, and the Hawks lost to the Yomiuri Giants in 5 games. He was then traded with Fumihiro Tojo to the Sankei Swallows for cash, and he slumped to .199/.244/.318 in 88 games in 1966. Muto hit .145/.243/.242 in 1967, and he recorded a .207/.324/.276 batting line in 1968. He was 3-for-33 in 1969, and he announced his retirement.
Overall, Muto hit .202/.272/.305 with 98 hits and 7 homers in 6 seasons in NPB.
