Biographical Information

Shinya Tsunashima played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 5 years.

Tsunashima signed with the Daiei Stars in 1949, and he hit .261/.279/.310 in his first season. He joined the Shochiku Robins when the JPBL split into two leagues in 1950, and he went 8-for-31 that season. Tsunashima was 14-for-46 in 1951, and he played 100 games with a .191/.246/.252 batting line in 1952. He recorded a .175/.273/.237 batting line in 1953, and he announced his retirement. Tsunashima later coached PL Gakuen High School from 1958 to 1963, and he also coached Takushoku University.

Overall, Tsunashima hit .219/.270/.277 with 157 hits and 5 homers in 5 seasons in NPB.
