Biographical Information[edit]
Shinpei Ichii played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 3 years.
Ichii signed with the Tokyu Flyers in 1949, and he hit .239/.339/.398 with 8 homers in 99 games. When the JPBL split into two leagues, he joined the Osaka Tigers and he crushed a career-high 11 homers with a .248/.333/.422 batting line. Ichii recorded a .239/.315/.346 batting line in 1951, but he then suffered from lung disease and his professional career ended. He later became the batting coach for the Tigers from 1960 to 1962 and in 1974, and he also scouted for them.
Overall, Ichii hit .242/.328/.387 with 206 hits and 25 homers in 3 seasons in NPB.
