Biographical Information[edit]
Shinji Ramoto signed with the Yakult Swallows in 1978, and he got 4 at-bats in his first season. He went 3-for-16 in 41 games in 1981, and he had 5 at-bats in 1982. Ramoto was 6-for-17 in 1983, and he played 49 games with a 1-for-12 record in 1984. He announced his retirement in 1986, and he became a scout. He signed Hiroaki Dohi.
Overall, Ramoto hit .204/.271/.278 with 11 hits in 5 seasons in NPB. A frequent pinch-runner, he had many more runs (29) than hits and had more steals (13, in 18 tries) than hits as well. He only had 60 plate appearances over his 176 games.
