Biographical Information[edit]
Shigeru Shimada played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 6 years.
Shimada was signed by the Lotte Orions in 1988 after he went undrafted in the 1988 NPB draft, and he hit .222/.250/.296 in 42 games in his first season. He recorded a .216/.303/.361 batting line in 1990, and he went 19-for-64 in 1991. Shimada played 44 games with a .242/.331/.371 batting line in 1992, and he crushed a career-high 8 homers while batting .270/.332/.415 in 1993. He recorded a .245/.316/.342 batting line in 1994, and he announced his retirement after staying in the minors for the entire 1995 season.
Overall, Shimada hit .252/.320/.384 with 194 hits and 21 homers in 6 seasons in NPB.
