Biographical Information

Shigeru Arai signed with the Daiei Stars in 1955, and he went 7-for-29 in his first season. He hit .268/.304/.331 in 69 games in 1956, and he played 103 games with a .266/.317/.348 batting line in 1957. Arai then recorded a .229/.290/.301 batting line in 1958, but he only got one at-bat in 1959 and he announced his retirement.

Overall, Arai hit .258/.308/.332 with 122 hits and 3 homers in 5 seasons in NPB.
