Biographical Information[edit]
Shigenori Sasaki played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 7 years.
Sasaki signed with the Kokutetsu Swallows in 1955, and he went 1-for-9 in his first season. He then hit .238/.275/.352 with 16 doubles in 127 games in 1956, and he hit .244/.313/.340 with 8 homers in 1957. He tied Noboru Inoue for 10th in steals in the Central League with 16. Sasaki then recorded a .222/.271/.315 batting line in 1958, and he played 101 games with a .246/.293/.309 batting line in 1959. Sasaki batted .218/.246/.236 in 1960, and he lost his second base spot after Masataka Tsuchiya joined the team in 1961. He only got 6 at-bats that season, and he announced his retirement.
Overall, Sasaki hit .234/.283/.322 with 360 hits and 21 homers in 7 seasons in NPB.
