Biographical Information

Shigeki Takaoka signed with the Hiroshima Carp in 1962, and he only got 14 at-bats combined in his first two seasons. He was 8-for-23 in 1964, and he only got one hits in 19 at-bats in 1965. Takaoka then had a 3-for-17 record in 1966, and he went 9-for-35 in 1967. He played a career-high 34 games with a .138/.194/.155 batting line in 1968, but he failed to return to the big club in 1969 and he announced his retirement.
