Biographical Information[edit]
Shigejiro Kanbayashi played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 7 years.
Kanbayashi signed with the Chubu Nihon Dragons in 1947, and he hit .182/.236/.202 in 50 games in his first season. He recorded a .178/.231/.238 batting line in 1948, and he went to the Tokyu Flyers in 1949. Kanbayashi played 93 games with a .184/.228/.257 batting line with his new team, and he batted .236/.295/.315 in 73 games in 1950. He slumped to .165/.209/.236 in 1951, and he jumped to the Mainichi Orions. However, Kanbayashi only got 32 at-bats for the Orions before he announced his retirement in 1953. He later coached the Takahashi Unions from 1954 to 1955, and he became a politician.
Overall, Kanbayashi hit .201/.249/.264 with 162 hits and 8 homers in 7 seasons in NPB.
