Biographical Information[edit]
Shichiro Sakota pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball for 7 years.
Sakota signed with the Tokyo Orions in 1964, and he had a 1.33 ERA in 12 games in his first season. He also led the minor Eastern League with 12 wins. Sakota then had a 6-7 record with a 2.88 ERA in 46 appearances in 1965, and he was 10th in games in the Pacific League (15 behind Yukio Ozaki). He was 4-6 with a 2.68 ERA in 1966, and he only pitched 7 games in 1967. Sakota recorded a 4.70 ERA in 27 appearances in 1968, and his ERA was 2.69 in 34 relief outings in 1969. However, he only pitched one more game before he announced his retirement in 1971.
Overall, Sakota was 16-22 with a 2.90 ERA, struck out 164 and pitched 409 2/3 innings in 7 seasons in NPB.
