Scott Ronnenbergh is the son of Erik Ronnenbergh, the grandson of Henk Ronnenbergh and the nephew of Martin Ronnenbergh.

Ronnenbergh played for the Netherlands in the 2008 World Junior Championship and 2009 European Junior Championship (10 BB, 9 K, 3 R in 6 IP). He participated in the MLB European Academy. He spent 2009 with the minor league team of the Amsterdam Pirates but didn't make it to the Hoofdklasse. For 2010, he signed with the Almere Magpies.

Ronnenberg drew interest from the Chicago Cubs, New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies before signing with the Seattle Mariners in April 2010. He was expected to join the team's minor league camp in mid-summer after finishing high school. Before his Organized Baseball debut, he made his Hoofdklasse debut on April 10 with Almere. Entering in relief in the 7th inning, he allowed three runs in two innings to allow Kinheim to rally and tie the game. Björn Henrichs got the big blow at the plate.

Scott's first game in the minor leagues came on June 4 with the AZL Mariners. It was a rough one, as he allowed four hits, two walks and two runs in 2/3 of an inning against the AZL Giants. He recovered to pitch shutout ball for his next four innings. He became the 15th Dutch player to appear in Organized Baseball that year.
