Scott P. Mayer is an author who co-wrote Baseball and Richmond: A History of the Professional Game, 1884-2000 (2003) with W. Harrison Daniel. Daniel, a college professor, was also Mayer's advisor when Mayer wrote his master's thesis The First Fifty Years of Professional Baseball in Richmond, Virginia: 1883-1932.
