Biographical Information[edit]

Satoshi Iwaki played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 10 years.

Iwaki signed with the Nankai Hawks in 1975, and he stayed in the NPB Farm Leagues in his first three seasons. He was 2-for-19 in 1979, and he played 23 games with a 4-for-8 record in 1980. Iwaki only got 3 at-bats in 1981, and he succeeded Masahiro Kuroda to become Nankai's new starting catcher in 1982. He recorded a .199/.256/.238 batting line in 91 games that season, and he hit .228/.254/.281 in 68 games in 1983. Iwaki's batting line was .173/.283/.212 in 1984, and he was 1-for-6 in 1985. He hit .183/.247/.256 in 1986, and he only got 2 more at-bats before he announced his retirement in 1988. Iwaki then coached in the Hawks system from 1991 to 2001 and from 207 to 2008. He was their top team battery coach for 2 years.

Overall, Iwaki hit .195/.255/.251 with 80 hits in 10 seasons in NPB.
