Biographical Information[edit]

Sakae Nakamura played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 9 years.

Nakamura signed with the Hankyu club in 1942, and he hit .177/.252/.206 in 87 games in his first season. He recorded a .169/.282/.177 batting line in 1943, and he enlisted into the military and missed the next six seasons. Nakamura was the only player who had pro experience when the Kokutetsu Swallows was founded in 1950, and he played 138 games with a .279/.362/.334 batting line that season. He broke up Kenjiro Tamiya's perfect game on March 16 in the 9th inning. Nakamura collected 19 steals with a .276/.358/.329 batting line in 1951, and he got 5 triples with a .232/.282/.305 batting line in 1952. He then recorded a .262/.314/.295 batting line in 1953, and he hit .279/.338/.340 in 82 games in 1954. Nakamura's batting line was .249/.312/.341 in 1955, then he went 9-for-56 in 1956 and he announced his retirement.

Overall, Nakamura hit .242/.315/.292 with 585 hits and 7 homers in 9 seasons in NPB.
