Biographical Information[edit]
Ryuzo Yamamoto was drafted by the Taiheiyo Club Lions in the 2nd round of the 1977 NPB draft, and he was 5-for-19 in 1977. He only got 8 more at-bats before he announced his retirement in 1982, and he became an umpire for the Pacific League from 1983 to 2009. He worked 2,375 games in his career, and he also worked 4 All-Star Games (1988, 1992, 2002, 2008) and 8 Nippon Series (1990, 1995, 1996, 1998, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005).
