Biographical Information[edit]

Ryuta Heinai had pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball. His uncle Tomohiro Nagai also played in NPB.

Heinai was 6-5 with a 1.86 ERA in the Tohto University Base Ball League, and he was drafted by the Yomiuri Giants in the first round of the 2020 NPB draft after they lost the lottery for the rights to Teruaki Sato; the scout was Ryota Wakiya. He only pitched 3 games in 2021, then he joined their bullpen in 2022. Heinai was 4-4 with 13 holds and a 4.32 ERA in 53 appearances, and he got a vote in the CL Rookie of the Year voting. However, Heinai underwent right elbow surgery after that season, and he missed most of the 2023 season. He only pitched 11 games with a 3.95 ERA that season, and he had a 2.16 ERA with 2 holds in 31 appearances in 2024.

Heinai's repertoire features a fastball that peaks at 97.6 mph, a splitter, cutter and a slider.
