Biographical Information[edit]
Ryunosuke Kawato was drafted by the Lotte Orions in the 9th round of the 1965 NPB draft, and he only played 2 games for the big club in his first two seasons. He was 3-4 with a 2.41 ERA in 1968, but he allowed 4 runs in 1 2/3 innings in 1969. The Orions then traded him to the Yomiuri Giants for Keisuke Senda, and he was 1-1 with a 5.40 ERA in 1970. He spent the next two seasons in the minors, and he was released. The Taiheiyo Club Lions signed him, but his ERA was 8.44 in 9 games in 1973 and he announced his retirement. His brother Kozo Kawato also played in NPB.
