Biographical Information[edit]

Ryohei Moriya played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 6 years.

Moriya signed with the Taiyo Robins in 1948, and he went 5-for-24 in his first season. He then improved to .254/.332/.504 with 15 homers in 1949, and he joined the Kokutetsu Swallows when the JPBL split into two leagues in 1950. Moriya crushed a career-high 21 homers with a .288/.398/.515 batting line, but he then slumped to .207/.296/.307 in 1951 He soon bounced back in 1952 with a .288/.359/.404 batting line, and he played 50 games with a .239/.288/.350 batting line in 1953. Moriya then announced his retirement, and he was the minor league manager for the Swallows from 1954 to 1956. He also coached them in 1957.

Overall, Moriya hit .266/.351/.439 with 353 hits and 49 homers in 6 seasons in NPB.
