Biographical Information

Ryo Yoshimoto had played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 9 years.

Yoshimoto represented Japan in the 1998 Asia Junior Championship. He was drafted by the Daiei Hawks in the first round of the 1998 NPB draft after they lost the lottery for the rights to Nagisa Arakaki, and he spent his first five seasons primarily in the NPB Farm Leagues; he only played 14 games combined at the top level. He hit .200/.232/.238 in 56 games in 2004, then he went 2-for-6 in 2005. Yoshimoto had a .250/.286/.325 batting line in 2006, but he only got 8 at-bats in 2007 and the Hawks released him in 2008. The Yakult Swallows picked him up, and he had a solid .360/.407/.560 batting line in 32 games in 2009 (he only had 33 plate appearances, backing up Shinya Miyamoto at 3B). Yoshimoto went 6-for-28 in 2010, and he announced his retirement in 2011.

Overall, Yoshimoto hit .227/.258/.303 with 54 hits in 9 seasons in NPB.
