Biographical Information[edit]
Rodrigo Hirota pitched at times for Brazil's national team. Hirota was 0-2 with a 6.55 ERA in the 2002 World Junior Championship but hit .300 as a part-time first baseman. In the 2002 Intercontinental Cup, he was 0-2, allowing 13 runs and 16 hits in just 5 innings as Brazil's worst hurler. He also appeared in the 2003 Pan American Games. He struck out 11 in 9 innings in the 2003 Baseball World Cup, posting a 5.00 ERA in three appearances. He was 3-3 with a 5.34 ERA for the 2005 GCL Mets in his lone season in the minors. In the 2005 Baseball World Cup, he lost to Cuba and Panama, going 0-2 with a 12.79 ERA, giving up 11 runs, 7 hits and 6 walks in 6 1/3 IP while striking out one.
