Riku Takeda has played in Nippon Pro Baseball.
Takeda represented Japan in the 2023 U-18 Baseball World Cup. He went 4-for-11 with a double and 3 RBI (banging out 3 hits against Puerto Rico); on the hill, he was 1-0 with a save and 5 1/3 shutout innings for the champs. He got the win over Spain and saved Yugo Maeda's win over Australia. [1] He was drafted by the Yokohama BayStars in the 3rd round of the 2023 NPB draft, the scout was Ryo Kawano.[2] He missed most of the 2024 season due to left elbow injury, and he only had 6 at-bats in the NPB Farm Leagues. Takeda then hit .194/.238/.194 in the minors in 2025, and he recorded a 3.75 ERA in 14 relief outings on the mound. He debuted against the Yakult Swallows on October 1, and he allowed a run in an inning to get his first career win.
