Biographical Information

Riku Takeda has played in Nippon Pro Baseball.

Takeda represented Japan in the 2023 U-18 Baseball World Cup. He went 4-for-11 with a double and 3 RBI (banging out 3 hits against Puerto Rico); on the hill, he was 1-0 with a save and 5 1/3 shutout innings for the champs. He got the win over Spain and saved Yugo Maeda's win over Australia. He was drafted by the Yokohama BayStars in the 3rd round of the 2023 NPB draft, the scout was Ryo Kawano. He missed most of the 2024 season due to left elbow injury, and he only had 6 at-bats in the NPB Farm Leagues. Takeda then hit .194/.238/.194 in the minors in 2025, and he recorded a 3.75 ERA in 14 relief outings on the mound. He debuted against the Yakult Swallows on October 1, and he allowed a run in an inning to get his first career win.
