Pedro Ortega pitched one game for the Venezuelan national team in the 1959 Central American and Caribbean Games. He threw a complete game win in their opening victory over the Netherlands Antilles (8 K, 8 BB, 2 R, 1 ER, 4 H). He also went 2-for-5 with a run at the plate. He was 4th in the event in ERA after Pedro Pérez, Mauro Ruiz and Pablo Higuerey. Venezuela won the Silver Medal.
